ARTE treats the wall as a crafted surface, not a backdrop. Led today by brothers Philippe and Steven Desart, the Belgian house has evolved from the family’s paint trade into one of the world’s leading specialists in wallcoverings, designed in-house, made with care, and specified in luxury hotels, retail spaces and residences across 100+ countries.
The story is three generations deep. Their father, Jean Pierre, saw wallpaper’s potential, with colour, pattern and texture working together, and built a studio to create it. Steven took that spirit into the factory, fine-tuning and reinventing machines to push new finishes and materials; Philippe took it to market, shaping a brand for architects, designers and hospitality worldwide.
What defines ARTE is its chemistry of ideas and engineering. Collections are narrative and tactile, embossed and layered, sometimes unconventional, yet always precise and production-ready. The benchmark is never the past; it is the last collection, and how the next one will go further.
