GWENAEL NICOLAS
ICON OF TODAY
French-born and Tokyo-based, Gwenaël Nicolas founded Curiosity in 1998. The studio works fluidly across interiors, architecture, product and graphics, partnering with brands to develop materials and clear design identities.
The portfolio includes retail and exhibition projects for Issey Miyake, Versace and Louis Vuitton, along with concepts for Uniqlo and high-concept installations for Lexus. Nicolas’s spaces are defined by a precise command of light and movement, a calm clarity, and an attention to detail that reflects a Japanese sensibility without pastiche.

What sets Curiosity apart is a disciplined curiosity: listening to context and craft, shaping the experience as carefully as the object. The result is work that feels grounded and tactile, from fragrance to flagships, continually resetting expectations of what a brand environment can be.
