The Wild and The Whimsical by Greg Natale

PROJECTS 01.06.25

Nestled in the leafy heart of Chelsea, this elegant red-brick townhouse conceals a whimsical and wildly sophisticated interior, masterfully reimagined by celebrated Australian designer Greg Natale. Known for his opulent touch and fearless use of colour, Natale brings a maximalist flair to London without sacrificing the poise and polish that defines his style.

From the moment you enter, it’s clear this home is anything but ordinary. In the powder room, walls bloom with hand-painted Chinoiserie scenes in dusky peach tones. A pink onyx sink and a golden swan tap create a jewel-box effect—glamorous, unexpected and utterly enchanting.
This sense of rich playfulness continues through the home. In the formal living room, a creamy curved sofa wraps around a sculptural oak coffee table, its organic form contrasting with a crisp architectural fireplace lined in veined pink marble. A splash of lavender from a velvet armchair and a glint of gold from a chandelier above tie the palette together with quiet drama.

In the dining area, deep green boucle chairs surround a monolithic stone table beneath a mesh-like pendant that hovers like a soft cloud. Blush marble makes another appearance in the adjoining kitchen, where plum-hued velvet bar stools with gold legs echo the home’s refined yet glamorous atmosphere.

Throughout, Greg Natale demonstrates an extraordinary command of material and colour. In the primary bathroom, polished stone floors are dotted with inset pink circles, a visual rhythm that continues onto the vanity’s fluted marble top. The muted pastels never feel saccharine, thanks to the strong architectural lines and tailored forms that anchor each room.

Downstairs, things take a darker, moodier turn. A wine cellar clad in rich timber and geometric marble sits adjacent to a cinema room wrapped in deep terracotta and dark, tactile upholstery. The interiors here lean into richness and texture, offering a different kind of indulgence—one of warmth, depth and late-night conversation.
