The Vaulted Villa by Sarsen Interiors
RESIDENTIAL PROJECTS
The Vaulted Villa in Dubai is a home shaped by emotion as much as structure. Designed by Sarsen Interiors for a distinguished artist, the project is a complete reimagining of an existing residence, transformed into a deeply expressive environment where architecture, materiality, and atmosphere work in quiet harmony. This is a home that embraces romance not through nostalgia, but through confidence in form, shadow, and feeling.

From the outset, the villa reveals its defining gesture: a series of sculptural ceilings that guide the experience of space. Groin vaults, barrel vaults, paneled vaults, and domes unfold throughout the home, each introducing a sense of rhythm and enclosure. Light pools gently along their curves, casting shadows that shift across the day. These ceilings are not decorative additions, but emotional anchors, grounding the home in a sense of calm grandeur and classical proportion.

The architectural language draws on Parisian refinement, seen in the symmetry, mouldings, and balanced compositions, yet it is softened and humanised through mid-century influences. The result feels intimate rather than formal. Solid wood, marble, and plaster appear repeatedly, chosen not for excess but for their tactile presence. Surfaces invite touch, edges are rounded, and transitions between rooms feel deliberate and fluid.

On the ground floor, spaces flow as a sequence rather than a plan. The hall opens into living and dining areas that feel composed but relaxed, connected by sightlines and softened by curves. A fully crafted wooden gym sits alongside a sculptural stair hall, where structure becomes an act of quiet theatre. Movement through the home feels almost choreographed, guided by proportion and light rather than walls.

Upstairs, the villa becomes more introspective. Conceived as a private retreat for the couple, the first floor is dedicated entirely to His and Her suites, each with its own bathroom, closet, and office. Though distinct in character, the rooms remain connected through a shared language of balance and craftsmanship. Vaulted ceilings continue overhead, while bespoke joinery and tailored furniture introduce subtle variations in tone and mood.

In moments like the bathroom spaces, the New Romantic spirit becomes particularly tangible. Curved walls wrapped in deep, earthen tones create a sense of enclosure and intimacy. Marble surfaces are paired with softened lighting, while classical detailing is reinterpreted with restraint. These are spaces designed not for display, but for ritual and reflection.

Throughout the villa, the client’s artistic sensibility is quietly woven into the narrative. Objects are placed with intention, materials are allowed to age gracefully, and every detail feels considered without becoming precious. The romance here lies in the restraint, in the confidence to let form, light, and material do the work.

With The Vaulted Villa, Sarsen Interiors offers a compelling vision of The New Romantic. It is a home that values emotion over minimalism, softness over severity, and individuality over formula. Classical architecture is not replicated, but reimagined, creating a space that feels timeless, personal, and deeply human.
