Robin Road Romance by Shane & Pierce
RESIDENTIAL PROJECTS
At Robin Road, romance is expressed through atmosphere rather than ornament. This residential project by Shane & Pierce embraces emotion as a guiding principle, shaping a home that feels intuitive, softened, and built to last. It is an interior led by feeling rather than rules, where curves, colour, and material work together to create a sense of quiet intimacy.

Arches define the home’s spatial language. Moving through the house, thresholds are gently rounded, framing views and creating moments of pause. These curves slow the pace, encouraging a more considered experience of space. Rather than rigid separations, rooms flow into one another with an ease that feels instinctive. The arch becomes both a structural and emotional device, softening transitions and lending the interiors a sense of enclosure and calm.
Colour plays a central role, used emotionally rather than decoratively. Warm earthen reds, muted greens, and soft neutrals form a layered palette that feels grounded and enveloping. In more intimate areas, deeper tones wrap the walls, amplifying a sense of warmth and retreat. Elsewhere, lighter shades allow daylight to move gently through the rooms, creating subtle shifts in mood as the day unfolds.

Materiality reinforces the home’s romantic sensibility. Limewashed walls, richly grained timber, tactile stone, and softly patinated metals introduce depth and imperfection. Nothing feels overly finished or pristine. Instead, surfaces carry texture and variation, allowing the house to feel lived-in and evolving. Beauty is found in nuance rather than excess.

Furniture and objects are chosen for their sculptural presence and softness. Rounded forms echo the architecture, from curved seating to gently shaped tables. Upholstery introduces warmth and tactility, while handcrafted elements add moments of irregularity and charm. Each piece feels considered yet relaxed, contributing to an interior that prioritises comfort and emotional connection.

Light is handled with equal sensitivity. Natural light filters through arched openings and tall windows, animating surfaces and revealing subtle shifts in colour and texture. In the evening, layered lighting creates a softer, more intimate atmosphere. Wall lights and low-level lamps cast warm pools of light, reinforcing the sense of refuge and calm that defines the home.
