Journey Through Time at Palazzo Talìa: Rome’s New Luxury Retreat
PROJECTS 09.01.24
Nestled in the heart of Rome, steps from Sant'Andrea delle Fratte, Palazzo Talìa beckons guests to indulge in the grandeur of a 16th-century palace while enjoying modern luxury. Under the care of Federici, this 26 room hotel is poised to become Rome’s newest symbol of refinement. Thoughtfully designed by Studio Luca Guadagnino, each space within Palazzo Talìa offers a bespoke experience, blending historical depth with contemporary elegance.

The entryway sets the tone with grand archways and intricately restored mouldings, each a testament to the original design. The materials, a blend of local stone and warm woods, evoke the essence of Rome’s stately residences. The delicate lighting, curated by Studio Luca Guadagnino, casts soft highlights on historic frescoes, creating an inviting ambiance that feels both grand and welcoming.

The iconic Magna Hall serves as the hotel’s crown jewel. This 248-square-metre space, adorned with Gaspare Serenari’s 18th-century frescoes, doubles as a gathering space for exclusive events. The hall's preserved details harmonise with contemporary furniture, all custom-designed to echo the hall’s elegance while offering a modern touch. The colour palette remains true to the past, with deep reds and muted golds enveloping guests in a setting fit for royalty.

On the top floor lies the Terrace Suite, a meticulously designed retreat offering panoramic views over Rome. The suite’s sloping ceilings and peach wood panelling create an intimate atmosphere, while the muted pink colour scheme and alcove-inspired bed bring warmth and softness to the space.

Palazzo Talìa’s restaurant and bar are a sensory experience designed to reflect Rome’s timeless charm. Featuring a striking carpet by artist Nigel Peake, which guides guests from the bar to the dining area, the space is awash in hues of burgundy, pink, and red. The menu, crafted to complement the ambiance, presents a selection of Italian-inspired dishes that showcase local ingredients and traditional techniques, inviting guests to savour the flavour of Rome in an unforgettable setting.

Rooted in ancient tradition yet reimagined for the modern traveller, the Wellness Area is a sanctuary inspired by Roman bathhouses. Here, marbled surfaces contrast with green majolica tiles sourced from Spanish artisans, creating an atmosphere both luxurious and grounding. The circular dome overhead completes the space, enhancing the room's acoustics and evoking a sense of grandeur.

Mia Home Design Gallery and Laura Feroldi Studio designed the Palazzo Talìa’s 25 exclusive rooms with a blend of historic reverence and modern-day luxury. Each room features custom pieces, from multi-coloured tile mosaics in the bathrooms to artfully crafted pink and burgundy round sofas and wrought iron canopy beds. These designs, paired with unique lighting from blown glass sconces and sophisticated striped wardrobes, bridge classical aesthetics with fresh, modern touches.
