Yellow is one of the most emotionally charged colours in interiors, uplifting, optimistic, but notoriously difficult to control. Too pale and it fades, too bold and it overwhelms. The projects featured here navigate that balance with confidence, layering tone, texture, and light to create spaces that feel warm rather than overpowering.

At Villa Korsmo by House of Lobos, the approach is atmospheric and immersive. Golden light floods the room, bouncing off warm-toned upholstery and planting to create a cinematic glow. The yellow is not just colour, but light itself, shifting throughout the day and wrapping the interior in warmth.

Fabian Freytag Studio’s Villa Dahlem takes a more graphic approach. In the kitchen, bold veining cuts through mustard cabinetry, introducing contrast and structure. Elsewhere, softer architectural yellows define joinery and curved niches, showing how tonal variation adds depth while maintaining cohesion.

In EstudioReciente’s project, yellow becomes spatial theatre. A sequence of arches in warm orange tones creates a transition that feels both intimate and dramatic, using colour to guide movement and perspective.

In the children’s spaces, yellow becomes playful. Claire Thompson’s Madison, Mississippi bedroom layers soft ochres and pattern to create a cocooning, joyful environment.

Omer Ozturk Interiors pushes the palette further, pairing deep amber cabinetry with reflective surfaces and metallic accents, creating a rich, textural space where yellow defines the architecture.

The collaboration between Fromental and Harris Reed introduces a more expressive narrative, with fluid, hand-painted motifs in golden hues creating a dreamlike, immersive backdrop.
Together, these projects show that yellow, when handled with nuance, is less about colour and more about atmosphere, bringing sunlight into the interior as an experience.
