Tucked within a chic Parisian quartier, designer Pierre Gonalons has reimagined a Haussmannian apartment with a fresh, modern twist. This home is a showcase of his ability to blend history and contemporary style, crafting spaces that feel both timeless and distinctly personal.
The living areas are anchored by a bold fireplace clad in golden mirrored tiles, a shimmering centrepiece that adds a warm glow to the room. Around it, plush seating in deep greens and intricate patterns invites relaxation, while curated bookshelves balance the visual richness with an intellectual touch. A striking geometric rug with golden and cream tones ties the space together, creating a harmonious interplay between old and new.
Throughout the apartment, Gonalons has introduced layered details that capture the eye. From the coffered ceiling that highlights the home’s architectural heritage to the subtle gold elements scattered throughout, the design celebrates craftsmanship and thoughtful curation. In the stairwell, mirrored geometric wall panels play with light and shadow, transforming a functional space into a work of art.
In more intimate rooms, floral hand-painted murals bloom across walls, depicting delicate birds and blossoms against a textured gold backdrop. These scenes evoke a sense of calm and wonder, complemented by low-slung, patterned seating and soft lighting that encourages lingering.
The kitchen, designed in dramatic black, offers a striking contrast to the rest of the home’s palette. High-gloss cabinetry, smoked glass shelving and dark stone worktops create a moody yet refined atmosphere. Brass accents add a touch of glamour, while an artfully styled drinks station and minimalist forms reinforce the space’s modern edge. It’s a bold move that speaks to Gonalons’ talent for juxtaposition, elevating everyday utility into a moment of drama and sophistication.
