Forest Estate: A Contemporary Haven in the Heart of Nature
PROJECTS
Douglas Design Studio’s Forest Estate project redefines the relationship between architecture and its natural surroundings. Situated amidst a lush forested landscape, this contemporary residence seamlessly integrates expansive glass walls, rich wood finishes, and organic textures to create a home that feels both luxurious and connected to nature.

Upon arrival, guests are greeted by a striking floating staircase crafted from walnut and steel, suspended against a backdrop of verdant greenery. The staircase not only anchors the space but also acts as a sculptural centerpiece, linking the levels of the home and setting the tone for the design’s clean, linear aesthetic.
Inside, the material palette is a harmonious blend of natural elements and sophisticated finishes. Walnut cabinetry, fluted panels, and white oak flooring provide warmth and texture, while crisp white walls and minimalist furnishings keep the focus on the surrounding landscape. The living spaces are designed to maximise light and views, with expansive glazing framing the forest beyond.

The kitchen is a showstopper, with dramatic waterfall marble countertops, integrated appliances, and open shelving that showcases curated objects and glassware. Pendant lights add a touch of artistry and intimacy, while the overall layout encourages easy flow between cooking, dining, and entertaining.

The bedrooms are serene and inviting, with tailored headboards, rich textiles, and calming colour palettes. In the bathrooms, bold marble surfaces create a sense of drama, complemented by matte black fixtures and custom walnut vanities.
