ART LIVES HERE: The Role of Art in Interior Storytelling

Soho House Kettner’s, London – 10 July 2025

On a bright July morning in Soho, OLISE Magazine brought together a powerful mix of artists, interior designers, and industry tastemakers to explore how art is reshaping the way we think about interiors. Over breakfast at Soho House Kettner’s, guests gathered for a rich conversation on emotional storytelling, cultural identity, and how art can be more than a finishing touch—it can be the foundation of a space.

Hosted by Vanessa Brady OBE, the panel featured artist and creative director of Chinakwe - Caroline Chinakwe, design director and Fromental co-founder Lizzie Deshayes, and interior designer Scott Maddux of Maddux Creative. Each panelist brought a distinct point of view, but shared one belief: when art leads, spaces become more human, more personal, and more powerful.

From Caroline’s celebration of Black identity through bold visuals to Lizzie’s use of ancient techniques with contemporary edge, and Scott’s philosophy that rooms should feel collected, not decorated, the discussion revealed a new way of thinking—one where interiors become immersive galleries and art becomes part of daily life.

We spoke about collaboration, curation, and the rising desire for authenticity. The panel shared how art can transform a mood board into a manifesto, how materials and surfaces hold memory, and how creativity is becoming more democratic, inclusive, and emotional.

As the conversation flowed into networking, it was clear this wasn’t just a talk. It was a movement. ART LIVES HERE reminded us that storytelling doesn’t begin with space—it begins with feeling. And when art drives the story, the result is a space that speaks.
