An Edwardian Revival: Playful Elegance by Zulufish

PROJECTS 01.04.25

Zulufish’s transformation of this Edwardian family home in West London is a renovation reimagined. Rich in colour, character and craft, the project takes the architectural grace of a 1920s detached house and infuses it with spirited modern living. With a considered layout and creative flair, Zulufish has created a home that feels both timeless and entirely of the moment.

Working closely with bespoke joinery studio HUX London and interior design firm Hide & Seek, Zulufish more than doubled the home’s square footage, carefully navigating conservation area constraints to deliver a basement level, loft conversion, and lateral expansions. And yet, nothing feels excessive. Each space has a purpose. Every element, a story.

The entrance opens into a bright reception room where sculptural lighting, playful pops of orange, and tactile furnishings create an atmosphere that’s as welcoming as it is design-led.

In the dining room, a handcrafted timber table anchors the space beneath a spectacular glass-ball chandelier—a vibrant installation that floats playfully above.

Crittall-style doors connect the room to the garden beyond, blending inside and out with fluidity. The colours here are bold but never brash, grounded in natural materials and a tactile rug that softens the geometry of the space.

In a world that often leans either minimalist or maximalist, this home is something far more refined—it’s expressive but edited, curated yet entirely comfortable. It’s a celebration of colour, craft, and the joy of making a house feel like home.
