A Parisian Dream - Art Deco Inspired with a View on the Eiffel Tower

PROJECTS 15.10.24

The beauty of a Haussmann building is unrivalled; floor to ceiling windows, traditional parquet flooring, wooden shutters and intricate ceiling roses in abundance. GCG Architects were delighted when their client of this splendid apartment in the 7th arrondissement asked them to be as creative as they liked and pay homage to the art decor trend of its period.

The magic begins as soon as you enter the apartment with a piece of mesmerising bespoke joinery for the cloakroom. The centre wallpaper, by Hermes’ vintage collection adds a burst of colour as soon as you walk in and is highlighted by the wall light by Apparatus. The bespoke curved mirrors reflect the light of the beautiful stained glass window by L’âme du vitrail which evokes the 1930’s heritage of the building.

The bespoke kitchen continues the soft curvaceous theme and the gold brass edging on the cupboards frame the Hermes vintage wall coverings seamlessly. Cement flooring tiles from Popham Design in dark blue contrast to the light blue cabinetry creating a sophisticated aesthetic.

The ceiling rose above the dining table by Atelier d’Offard continues the legacy of the 19th century. Textured wallpaper using pieces of cardboard creates a unique finish on the ceiling and the dining chairs are upholstered in Lelièvre fabric.

Artist Sacha Floch Poliakoff created a mural on the ceiling of the living room to depict ancient Greek landscapes, adding dreamy clouds of colour. The teak wood Saroja coffee table is designed by GCG Architects.

The plush carpets in the bedrooms are inviting and cosy. The artful use of colour demonstrates how mixing the right palette tones and different natural finishes create something truly amazing.

The different tones of blue work well with the traditional mid-brown chevron parquet floor and the choice of wall coverings add playfulness to the kids’ playroom.

The guest bedroom is cleverly divided by a retractable wall divide giving peace to guests as and when required.

Each ensuite bathroom is a work of art with handcrafted mosaics by Lilikpó adding depth and warmth to the interiors.

This Parisian apartment impresses with its artisan approach to interiors. The seamless flow throughout the different rooms is peaceful and inspiring. GCG has once again shown how a bespoke holistic approach can bring out the best of every space.
